The built of Shikarpur
The built of Shikarpur is told about 1617 A.D. (ﻫ 1026). First time the discovery about Shikarpur was came in the journey of Captain Alexander Burnes “A Voyage on Indus travels in to Bukhara”, then the theory of Alexander was revised in the report of Captain F.G. Gold Smid “A historical memories on Shikarpur”، it is “The late Sir Alexander Burnes records Hijra 1026 as the year in which Shikarpur was built, this corresponds with Anno Domini 1617, and it is ascertained by Ghok (غوک) or Frog (Marking a marshy neighborhood) to be found in the mosque of Haji Fakeer Ola, out side the Lakhi Gate of town. This numerical value is thus explained (غ =١٠٠٠ + و = ٦+ ک =٢٠= ١٠٢٦ﻉ)”.
When Jalal Abro got death in 1669, then his sons went in a frication with Bahadur Khan Daudpota, for that reason Daudpotas migrated from Tarahi and placed in the area of today’s Shikarpur. And the got this area (Shikarpur) from Governor of Sibi (Balochistan), Mirza Khan Punni (1666-1699), where before this area was a hunting place (شڪارگاه) and for this Daudpotas named this area Shikarpur. This was mid of 1669 to 1675, means Shikarpur was built in this period. In that period near Shikarpur (in today’s Lakhi Ghulam Shah) Mahar tribes were big affected politically and tribally. And Sher Khan Mahar was the Sardar (leader) of Mahar tribe.
After few time Sardar Sher Khan Mahar got dispute with Daudpotas in imbroglio of land. In the result Sher Khan Mahar got defeat and Daudpotas got Occupation on Mahar tribe area Lakhi. Daudpotas despoiled and ruined Lakhi and whatever the got from victory (money, jewelery, and luggage), they built 8 wall around Shikarpur, which are following.

17th February 1843, Britishers defeat Talpurs, got victory on Shikarpur (and whole Sindh) and they changed the Capital of Sindh Hyderabad into Karachi. Britishers brought Sindh in a new administrative infrastructure and they divided the Sindh in three Collect orates Karachi, Hyderabad, and Shikarpur. 14 Talukas were included in Shikarpur Collect orate.
