History of flooding in Pakistan

Pakistan has a history of flooding. Some of the major floods in Pakistan include the 1992 India-Pakistan floods, 2003 Sindh province floods, 2007 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and coastal Balochistan floods, 2010 Pakistan floods, 2011 Sindh floods, 2012 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, southern Punjab and northern Sindh floods and 2020 Karachi floods¹. Is there anything else you would like to know?
The impact of the flood on the people of Pakistan has been devastating. According to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, the floods have affected more than 33 million people and destroyed or damaged more than 1 million houses. At least 1,100 people were killed by floodwaters that inundated tens of thousands of square kilometers of the country. Is there anything else you would like to know
The Government of Pakistan and the United Nations have jointly launched the “2022 Pakistan Floods Response Plan (FRP)” to help people affected by the flood. The FRP focuses on the needs of 5.2 million people, with life-saving response activities amounting to US$ 160.3 million covering food security, assistance for agriculture and livestock, shelter and non-food items, nutrition programmes, primary health services, protection, water and sanitation, women’s health, and education support, as well as shelter for displaced people³. Is there anything else you would like to know?
There are many ways you can help the people affected by the flood in Pakistan. You can donate to the Prime Minister’s Flood Relief Fund 2022 which has been established to facilitate people all over the country and overseas to contribute to the flood relief efforts. You can also donate to organisation’s that are working on the ground to provide relief and assistance to those affected by the flood. Is there anything else you would like to know?
